On Sunday, Dec. 11, Susie Davidson, Author of the book "I Refused To Die," will speak and do a reading at Shaloh House Chabad of the South Area. Mrs. Davidson is a free-lance writer and correspondent for the Jewish Advocate. Her book, which is a three-year effort, is filled with stories of Boston area Holocaust survivors and the soldiers who liberated the concentration camps of World War II.
Susie Davidson has appeared on various radio and TV talk shows including Channel 7. In the words of Thomas G. Kelley, Secretary Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services, "Susie Davidson has done a remarkable job in capturing the depths of despair and the joys of salvation. The act of liberation will always be spared in the minds and hearts of those inside and outside the gates of the camps."
The book includes 30 personal stories recorded, annotated, edited and in most cases written by Davidson. The purpose of the book is to document and honor the bravery and accomplishments of the contributing survivors and World War II soldiers, and to confront Holocaust denial in our modern world.
The reading will take place at Shaloh House Chabad of the South Area on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. Shaloh House Chabad is an outreach center serving the South Area with educational services for children and adults, which includes its highly acclaimed preschool, kindergarten and Hebrew school, as well as many community programs. This event is a project of the Jewish Outreach Initiative at Shaloh House.
Other adult lectures are continuously planned at Shaloh House including: "The Shul Part II," By Mr. Shmuel Bollen on Jan. 17.
