Ritzy reception

WITH the wedding now confirmed for Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel, all eyes are the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Point Piper as the place for the reception.

Nicole Kidman's mother Janelle was spotted at the club last week and her brother-in-law Angus Hawley was there last night as activity and deliveries including a sound system stepped up.

On Monday Kidman's $4.5 million yacht spent three full hours "practising" reversing into the club's fuel pen.

It is believed the boat will transport the bridal party from the Manly wedding to the club on Sunday night.

Club staff were called in for a special meeting on Monday, with all requested to sign confidentiality agreements.

As a registered club the RMYC board must approve all functions - but Sunday's booking has been blacked out with marker pen.

The rarely used harbour-level eatery, which is totally inaccessible to non-members and prying eyes, last year had a multi-million dollar refurbishment by celebrity interior designer Michael McCann.

Described as "the most glamour of glamour places you've ever seen", it handles 500 standing guests and is expected to be used for drinks.

The upstairs function centre - catering for 190 accessible only by internal lift - is where the main event is expected to take place.

Wedding spends of as much as $2 million are common at the club, which is catered by 2005 caterer of the year Zest.

Only Krug and Krystal champagne are served and decorating spends of $200,000 are commonplace.

Kidman was invited to be guest of honour at a $150- a-head fundraiser for key Eastern Suburbs synagogue Chabad Double Bay at the venue in April last year but pulled out because she was overseas.
