Chabad sends teachers to 33 cities

Chabad-Lubavitch is sending emissary couples to 33 cities as adult education instructors.

The new emissary program, which will be launched this fall, is the first large-scale effort by Lubavitch headquarters in New York devoted specifically to full-time adult education.

Most cities are in the United States, with some in Canada, Australia, Belgium and the United Kingdom. More than 70 Chabad centers applied to receive the couples, who will get two years of funding from the Rohr Family Foundation.

The local Chabad centers must provide matching funding and agree to sustain the positions for three more years.

The rabbis and their wives will teach Torah, Talmud and Jewish law, along with Jewish history, ethics and other subjects.
